Charlie Rodgers and Bensham Grove

Join us at the historic Bensham Grove for a fascinating evening celebrating the life and work of local artist Charlie Rodgers and exploring the influence that Bensham Grove and the surrounding area had on his art.

Led by Brian Rankin, this engaging illustrated talk will delve into Rodgers' remarkable paintings, his connection to Gateshead, and the rich social and architectural history that inspired his work. Through a selection of paintings and stories, you'll discover how Bensham Grove became an enduring subject in his artistic legacy.

Guests will enjoy a welcoming glass of wine and a selection of canapés while taking in an evening that combines local history, art and heritage in the elegant surroundings of our Grade II listed building.

Whether you're an art enthusiast, local history lover, or simply curious to learn more about one of Gateshead's most celebrated artists, this promises to be an inspiring and enjoyable evening.

Sausage Fest!

Join us at Bensham Grove on 5th September, 11am–2pm, for a joyful community event dedicated to dachshunds and the people who adore them. Set within our beautiful Grade II listed home, Sausage Fest brings together sausage dogs of every shape and size for an afternoon of fun, friendliness and wagging tails.

Enjoy stalls, pupcakes, games, rosettes and prizes for the best dressed, along with plenty of chances to meet fellow dachshund owners and enthusiasts. Whether you’re bringing your own sausage or simply coming to enjoy the atmosphere, everyone is welcome.

All sausages welcome — mini, standard, smooth, wire, long, short and everything in between.

Come along for a relaxed, heart‑warming celebration of community, creativity and canine charm at Bensham Grove.

Whether you’re hunting for something unique or simply craving a night filled with character, this is the place where heritage, creativity and community come alive.
